I’m so excited to announce that Daily Graces is venturing into uncharted waters – Etsy and Peter’s Square.

For a while now I’ve been trying to find a way to combine two worlds that I love – Catholicism and crochet. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 finally came to my rescue – “Pray without ceasing.” I have modified this a bit to become pray your crochet without ceasing. Thus far, I’ve created 2 unique prayer shawl patterns and 2 simply adorable flower patterns.

I designed each shawl in such a way that even a beginning crocheter should be able to complete it in 9 days. Why 9 days. Novenas! These are more than just prayer shawls. They are novena shawls. Each pattern includes all the prayers (the St. Peregrine Novena Shawl even includes scripture verses and reflection questions to meditate on as well) and the crochet pattern broken down by what you need to complete each day so that by the end of the 9 days you’ve not only prayed a novena for a friend, family member or a special intention, you’ve also created a one-of-a-kind shawl to gift to them (or donate) as well. Nothing is more precious than prayer and now you can offer your loved one a physical representation of that prayer.

The flowers are similar, just smaller. These do not take 9 days to complete, don’t worry! In fact, after you make a couple, you will probably be able to crank them out in just a few minutes. They are perfect for attaching to bobby pins, hair clips, headbands or scarves, bookmarks, woven into braided hair, or simply put in a pocket for comfort. Each flower is accompanied by a lovely prayer to St. Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower. The gift of a flower is a simple act but one made with great love.

If you do choose to purchase one of my patterns, thank you so much! I pray that each pattern becomes a source of peace and inspiration for you as you find God in those quiet moments while you create this treasured gift for someone in need. Also, 20% of each pattern purchased through Etsy is donated to either the The Ann and Raymond Gath Foundation for Alzheimer’s Research (click here for more about the Gath Foundation) or Les Turner ALS Research and Patient Center Research & Clinical Fund (Click here for more about about ALS and the research center). If you purchase through Peter’s Square, 10% is donated to the above research organizations and 10% to our local parish.

Below are a few pictures of what I’ve created. Please head over to the Etsy shop or Peter’s Square and check them out. You can also follow PrayStitchGift on Facebook and Pintrest to check out my inspiration, works in progress, give feedback and make special requests.
